Test Format You are allowed 2.5 hours to complete the multiple-choice test. Although each exam is unique in its content, most tests have a listening, reading, and grammar component. Most exams are computerized with a few that are paper/pencil versions. See the list of those exams below.
What does the flats exam consist of?
The tests cover listening, reading, and grammar, are in multiple-choice format, and allow students two and a half hours to complete. Unofficial FLATS results are emailed to you within 24 hours and will be sent to your institution in 3-4 weeks.
What is BYU FLATS?
The Foreign Language Achievement Testing Services (FLATS) provides students the opportunity to receive up to 12 credit hours of pass/fail university credit by examination. Tests are available to both BYU and non-BYU students; however, non-BYU students cannot receive BYU credit.
