Your teacher sets the late work policies for your class. However, Classroom doesn’t prevent you from turning in late work. When your teacher assigns work, it’s marked Assigned. If you don’t turn in your work on time, it’s marked Missing or Done late as soon as the due date or time arrives.
What do you say when an assignment is late?
Always fill out the subject title correctly: “Missed paper deadline,” “Late assignment submission,” with your full name and your class and section information. This way your teacher will know who is writing and why. Ask permission to meet in person if necessary to set up another due date for your assignment.

Why do students turn in assignments late?
There could be some personal constraints like an illness, an accident, lack of concentration or prior commitments. There may be resource constraints like power outage, website going down or the reference material locked up while the person with the key is on leave.
Is it okay to not hand in an assignment?
If you just don’t turn it in the said assignment on the day it is due you will either get a zero for the assignment or a penalty usually the former (again refer to your syllabus).

What to do if you miss an assignment?
Instead of panicking on missing your assignment, reach out to your professor as soon as possible. If you have a genuine reason for missing the assignment, be open and frank about it. If, instead, you have missed an assignment due to negligence, seek an extension from the professor.
